I have always been drawn to the outdoors.
Growing up in the Essex countryside, I spent much of my childhood exploring woodlands, fields, and natural landscapes. Looking back, it was these early experiences that first sparked my fascination with how people interact with nature and the spaces around them.
My journey into garden design has not followed a traditional path. Before founding Terra Verde, I worked across horticulture, garden maintenance, landscape construction, and design, gaining hands-on experience at every stage of a garden's life. From caring for award winning established landscapes to building new ones from the ground up, these experiences taught me that truly successful gardens are not just beautiful on completion day, they continue to improve and mature over time.
This practical knowledge, combined with formal garden design training and studies in architectural principles, allows me to approach projects from multiple perspectives. I understand how gardens are designed, how they are built, and most importantly, how they will perform years after the project is complete.
What excites me most about garden design is the opportunity to create spaces that improve people's daily lives. A garden can be somewhere to entertain, relax, reconnect with nature, or simply enjoy a morning coffee. The most rewarding projects are those that feel deeply personal to the people who use them
I see my youth as one of my greatest strengths. It has driven me to continually learn, seek guidance from experienced professionals, and build knowledge across design, horticulture, and construction. My ambition, attention to detail, and passion for improvement shape every project I undertake. Much of this mindset stems from a deeper connection to nature and the environment — something that continues to influence my work today and is explored further below
Why Terra Verde Exists
Terra Verde was born from a belief that gardens must begin adapting to the realities of a changing climate.
Across Essex and much of the UK, we are experiencing hotter summers, longer periods of drought, and increasingly unpredictable weather patterns. Yet many gardens continue to be designed as though these challenges do not exist.
I believe garden design has a responsibility to look forward.
Rather than fighting against nature, my aim is to create landscapes that work with their environment. Through considered planting, sustainable design principles, and an understanding of local conditions, I strive to create gardens that are resilient, wildlife-friendly, and capable of thriving for decades to come.
My work draws inspiration from Mediterranean landscapes, naturalistic planting, and contemporary design, but every project begins with the same question:
How can this garden become more beautiful, more sustainable, and more connected to the people who use it?
